Default The 2010 Steam Holiday Sale

Put off repairing your car. Tell your baby momma she'll have to get her diaper money elsewhere. Sell your kidneys. It's time for the Steam Holiday Sale!

I figure we could discuss each day's sales. The problem I (and others I assume) had last year was that I'd see a bunch of interesting but relatively unknown games on sale, buy them on impulse, then discover that they're pretty meh. Yeah, you'll only be down $10 or so, but it adds up.

Anyhow, today (11/24) the following games are on sale:

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/296/ - Deus Ex Collection $4.99
http://store.steampowered.com/app/8980/ - Borderlands $9.99
http://store.steampowered.com/app/21970/ - R.U.S.E $33.49
http://store.steampowered.com/app/6120/ - Shank $10.04
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/6789/ - Indie Energy pack $4.99
http://store.steampowered.com/app/34010/ - Alpha Protocol $7.50
http://store.steampowered.com/app/901399/ - Sam and Max: The Devil's Playhouse $10.50
http://store.steampowered.com/app/240/ - CS:S $5.00

As far as my personal recommendations for today...

Alpha Protocol was a fantastic game that suffered badly from a lack of polish. Great plot, dialogue, and replayability; but gameplay-wise it's pretty iffy. I greatly enjoyed it, though, and for $7.50 it's definitely worth picking up.

Also, if you havn't played the first Deus Ex, then you're stupid. STUPID I SAY. Ok it's a bit dated and the sequel sucks but it's one of the most unique, interesting games I've ever played. Probably one of the best plots in video game history. For $2.49 (don't get the collection, just get the first one) it's an easy buy.

I'd like to know if Shank's any good, so I'd welcome some opinions on that.

Shank is actually very awesome. They weren't joking around when they say "we highly recommend you play this with a gaming controller." . Seriously. It is keyboard HELL otherwise.

But game animations, game play, cut scenes, etc are very entertaining. Combos are smooth and ridiculously cool looking.

It's definitely a time waster, but worth it imo for the entertainment you receive before you get bored and move on to say, youporn.

DAY 2

eh, screw doing the list, you lazy assholes can just go check the Store page yourself. http://store.steampowered.com/

Batman:AA for $10 is definitely worth it. The Indie Story pack contains some interesting games (I've heard Retticear is pretty good), and for $5 it may be worth picking up... but personally I have a bad history actually playing through most indie games I get off Steam, so I'll probably pass on it.

Current damage: 2 games, $25.

Today is the first time I've seen COD2: MW on sale anywhere. Still kinda debatable whether it's worth it for $15, but I did sorta enjoy the singleplayer missions. (My copy was free, though )

Has anyone played the King's Bounty games? I'm considering picking up that pack.

I just got Street Fighter IV today for $10.20. I've been waiting for it to go on sale for MONTHS.

That's a great price on Street Fighter. I grew up on SF but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me anymore.

I'm hoping they put Mass Effect 2 on sale. I just finished the first one, and it was great.

Today's (11/29) deals:

If you like Bioware and Star Wars, and have been under a rock for the last decade or so... go buy Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for $2.50 now. now now now

If you like STALKER, on-rails FPS games, and anything Russian... you may wanna consider Metro 2033. For $10 I suppose it's worth a try, but you'd really have to want to play it.
